It is with great pleasure and honor that we extend our warmest invitation to participate in the third international conference of the Egyptian Association for Group Therapies and Processes (EAGT) and the fourth regional conference of the International Association for Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP) in Africa. The conference will be held in the cradle of civilization, Egypt, January 10 – 13, 2018 in Dusit Thani Hotel, Cairo.
The 2018 conference is jointly organized by EAGT and IAGP in collaboration with the Psychiatry Department at Cairo University, the Evolutionary Psychiatry and Group Work Association and the Egyptian Psychiatric Association.
This year’s theme “Hope, Action and Connection” reflects our determination to continue a journey that started in 2014 with “Hope in Critical Times,” and went “From Hope to Action” in 2016. Under an umbrella of education, training and research in the field of group psychotherapy and group processes, “Hope, Action and Connection” fulfills our need for collaboration and connection. Our aspiration is not only to connect with different professional practitioners, trainers, trainees and students from all over the world, but also between different cultures and the past, the present and the future.
Stemming from our belief in the value of complementarity and integration, different group interventions will be introduced and practiced such as here and now, psychodrama, group analysis, creative arts, integrative and others.
Coming together with leading therapists, researchers, colleagues and friends from different cultures and diverse professional backgrounds will offer a wonderful opportunity to network, refresh your knowledge base and explore different approaches in the field of group psychotherapy and group processes. The social dreaming matrix, the large group, the experiential workshops and the other daily group activities will provide chances to enhance personal growth, in addition to professional group practice.
We look forward to meeting and welcoming you in Cairo in January 2018.
Prof. Yehia Rakhway
President of the Conference
