Play is the real life of children, they express through painting, toys and other materials themselves, their relationships and their boundaries.Art therapy is an instinctive way of allowing children who have been exposed to trauma, to express and contain otherwise overwhelming emotions which are difficult to access with verbal therapy alone. In this workshop painting, clay and sand box techniques will be presented especially in dealing with traumatized children. The workshop will be presented in English and Arabic with an Arabic translation of the English.

She has a certificate in the Therapeutic & Educational Application of the Arts, and an MA degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (July 2001) University of N.London/London Metropolitan University (Incorporating Gestalt Therapy, Group Processes, Transactional Analysis, Object Relations Theories, Jungian Analysis, Existential Psychotherapy). She has a Diploma in Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, and she is UKCP Registered.
Dr. Hanan El-Mazahy
originally trained as a pediatrician sub specializing in Pediatric neurology and earned a Master’s degree in pediatrics in 2006, she then moved into the area of child and adolescent psychotherapy earning a PhD in Mental Health in 2016. She is currently in private practice in Alexandria, Egypt. She has been involved in community work involving dealing with traumatized children through multidisciplinary teams and she has designed and implemented trainings on child protection and is a licensed child protection trainer. She has presented nationally, regionally and internationally on child and adolescent psychotherapy. Her psychotherapeutic interests include child and Adolescent group psychotherapy, DBT, play and art therapy, family therapy and Psychodrama. She has been translating and implementing DBT with adolescents in Arabic, providing the first Arabic comprehensive DBT for adolescents including multifamily skills groups. She has also pioneered social skills groups for children and adolescents using play and art therapy techniques and also action methods.
