It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the second group psychotherapy and group processes conference in Egypt and the Arab world. The conference is conducted in collaboration with many distinguished colleagues from the national and international fields. On behalf of the board and members of the Egyptian Association for Group Therapies and Processes (EAGT) and the International Association for Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP), we welcome your participation in this English-Arabic speaking event, with the hope that together we will find the way to a better tomorrow. Again, from the heart of one of the oldest civilizations in the world, mental health professionals as well as non-mental health professionals working with groups in different settings are all invited to attend as presenters and participants. This is not merely a scientific forum in which we exchange the latest in scientific psychological research; it is rather a renewed opportunity to rediscover the integration between the psychological and biological therapies. It is also an opportunity to live different group experiences that we can both learn from and improve upon, thus embarking on the path to safety, progress and evolution.
We gather every two years to support group work in diverse fields, spread awareness and solidify the ethical foundations of group psychotherapy and group processes. We are thus able to create more communication channels in Egypt, the Arab, the African and the international worlds. Our target is to enhance our group skills and creative power. We first met to share our firm belief that there is “Hope in Critical Times.” Since then, together, we were not only able to find this hope but also to create it and learn from it. Hence, we have proven that constructive group work is highly effective and quite needed. We have become more aware of the effect of group work on different fields: therapeutic, social, organizational and national. The time has come, once again, to navigate between theory and experience and take another step “From Hope to Action.”
